St Andrew, South Thoresby
A 1728 red-brick church on the eastern edge of the Wolds, its clear windows a welcome to walkers on the footpaths nearby.
Dedicated to St Andrew
St Andrew was one of the first disciples to follow Jesus, called while working as a fisherman with his brother, St Peter. Tradition holds he was martyred on an X-shaped cross — the design that appears on Scotland’s flag, as he is that nation’s patron saint. His feast day is 30 November.
Built in 1728 of red brick, St Andrew’s occupies a quiet spot on the eastern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, in good walking country. Its clear windows let in plenty of natural light, making the church a particularly inviting stop for visitors and walkers seeking a moment of rest.
