Dedicated to St Nicholas
St Nicholas was an early Christian bishop from what is now Turkey, imprisoned under the persecution of the Roman emperor Diocletian. Renowned for his charity and care for the vulnerable, especially children, he is the inspiration for Santa Claus. His feast day, 6 December, marks his death in 343 AD.
St Nicholas’ sits in a wonderful setting beside a bend in the road, with a clear window behind the altar looking out over the surrounding farmland — Lincoln Red cattle are often grazing within view.
The church’s simple, light interior is well loved locally: a flower group maintains displays both inside the building and through the churchyard, which is abundant with spring wildflowers.
