Dedicated to St Vedast
St Vedast was a French bishop associated with healing miracles and wise teaching, who died in 539; his feast day falls on 6 February. Only two churches in Britain are dedicated to him, making the dedication here a genuine rarity — “St Vedast, pray for us!”
St Vedast’s sits on a hilltop above Tathwell, reached along Thackers Lane where it forks with New Lane. A stained glass window inside depicts the church’s rare patron saint.
If you find the church closed, telephone numbers are posted in the porch so a key can be arranged — the parish is keen that visitors are still able to see inside.

A small car park and narrow gravel path lead up to the churchyard. Open daily — if not, telephone numbers for access are posted in the porch.
